Tree Pruning & Trimming you can rely on
Good pruning keeps a tree healthy and safe. Bad pruning ruins it. Our arborists cut to the branch collar, take out dead and weak wood, and shape the canopy so the tree stays strong for years rather than being hacked back every season.
We prune around houses, sheds, fences and powerlines, thin dense canopies to let light through, and reduce weight on heavy limbs before storm season. If you only want a few branches off, that’s fine. If you need a full canopy clean, we do that too.
When you might need it
- Branches are touching or overhanging the roof, gutters or fences
- The canopy is thick and blocking light or views
- There’s dead wood or weak, crossing branches
- Storm season is coming and heavy limbs need reducing
- A young tree needs shaping while it’s still small
- Limbs are growing over a neighbour’s fence or towards powerlines

How our tree pruning works
Free quote
We look at the tree and talk through what you want from it: clearance, light, shape or safety.
Plan the cuts
We pick the cuts that help the tree and avoid the ones that harm it.
Prune
Work is done by climbing or from the ground using proper rigging, so branches come down controlled.
Clean-up
Branches are chipped and removed, and the area is left tidy.

Tree Pruning FAQs
What’s the difference between pruning, trimming and lopping?
Pruning means selective cuts that improve a tree’s health or structure. Trimming usually means tidying growth and shape. Lopping means cutting large branches back hard, which we only recommend when there’s a clear reason. See tree lopping.
When is the best time to prune?
Most trees can be pruned any time of year if the cuts are done properly. Dead and dangerous wood should come out straight away. We’ll advise on timing for flowering and fruiting trees.
Will pruning kill my tree?
Not when it’s done right. Cutting too much at once or making flush cuts can harm a tree, which is why we follow arborist best practice. See common pruning mistakes to avoid.
Do you prune near powerlines?
We can assess trees near lines and tell you what’s safe for us to do. Some work near powerlines has to be handled by the network operator. We’ll point you the right way.
